A Crisis Made in Oakland

Where developer demands outweigh resident concerns.

The City of Oakland has more un-housed people living in tents on City sidewalks than ever before.

These displaced workers, seniors, and families now live in tents under freeway underpasses in makeshift communities. Next to million-dollar condos and booming downtown development, these tent encampments have grown while the City’s plans to treat the crisis have failed. Oakland needs its leaders to treat the tent encampment growth as the crisis it is, and fund alternative housing options and affordable units.
